Need to Know
We're ba-a-ack, and so is film! Film, uh, finds a way, if you will. This year's Eauxscars will return to its roots of film, spoofing the biggest night in Hollywood and allowing you, the student, to present the case for YOUR favorite film of 2021! Watch passion for film reignite on Thursday, April 7, from 5-7 PM in 143 Coates Hall! After two years of hibernating in our homes, streaming TikToks, and telling Netflix/Amazon/etc. "I'm still here," we are ready to fight off dinosaurs and zombies and celebrate the movies of 2021, live and in person!
For those of you who may be new to this annual event, Eauxscar Night is a fun, funny, tongue-in-cheek parody of all things Oscar. It's a time for us to get together and celebrate (lampoon) the best (or worst) of the films that 2021 had to offer.
If you would like to participate in this momentous event, please put together your funniest, most entertaining, most persuasive presentation (5 minutes max) for BEST FILM OF 2021. It does not have to be an Oscar-nominated film, nor even a "good" one. This year's event presentations can be about any full-length, documentary, or short film released on any platform (big screen, streaming, etc.). An Eauxscar will be awarded for Most Outstanding Argument, and there are exciting prizes lined up for the top presenters! Feel free to come in costume (your favorite movie character from this year or any), or dress in your red carpet best!
Following the speeches, there will be a trivia game allowing for audience participation (and prizes!), as well as FREE PIZZA!
Faculty and students are involved in this evening of merriment, so bring your best case and show us how creative, convincing, and clever you are. Movies are on a first-come, first-serve basis, so once someone has claimed a film, it's off the table!
If you would like to be a presenter and compete to win prizes, please contact the Screen Arts Coordinators by sending an email labelled "Eauxscar NIght Presenters" in the subject line with your name and film choice to screenartscoord@lsu.edu by Wednesday, March 30. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out.
We're looking forward to reanimating this annual Screen Arts tradition with of all of you! In the meantime, be on the lookout for zombies, dinosaurs, and email reminders!
Special Thanks
