Shaping the Future of Music Education: Dr. Kamile Geist Selected as TMEA 2025 Featured Clinician

BATON ROUGE, LA – Dr. Kamile Geist, Associate Professor and Ava & Cordell Haymon Endowed Chair of Music Therapy at Louisiana State University’s School of Music, has been selected as a featured clinician for the 2025 Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Clinic/Convention.
This prestigious event is one of the largest music education conferences in the world, drawing nearly 30,000 attendees each year. It features over 300 professional development sessions and showcases outstanding music programs from across the country. The convention will take place from February 12–15, 2025, at the Henry B. González Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas.
Recognized as a leading expert in music therapy, Dr. Geist joined LSU in 2022 and has played a pivotal role in developing the university’s Bachelor of Music Therapy program—the first of its kind at a public institution in Louisiana. Her research and teaching focus on integrating music therapy with education to enhance student engagement, improve learning outcomes, and support social-emotional development.
At the TMEA Clinic/Convention, Dr. Geist will lead four workshops:
- Music Therapy and Music Education: Teaming to Support SEL
- Keep a Beat: Teaching Strategies for Early Childhood Music Education
- Keep a Beat: Using Rhythm and Movement to Increase Student Attention and Decrease Teacher Stress
- Music Strategies to Support STEM in Early Childhood Education
Dr. Geist’s selection as a featured clinician recognizes her significant contributions to music therapy and education. Her work continues to shape best practices in music instruction, reinforcing the vital role of music in cognitive and social development.
