We Protect | LSU Vet Med
Protecting the lives of animals and people
LSU Vet Med is dedicated to improving and protecting the lives of animals and people through superior education, transformational research, and compassionate care.
We help coordinate and participate in disaster response training each year to ensure that we are ready to respond to disasters that affect our region. Our Veterinary Teaching Hospital is ready to serve as a base of operations for animal care following disasters, and our faculty, staff, and students have rescued and cared for animals after disasters for more than 15 years.
In addition, we operate the Louisiana Animal Disease Diagnostic Lab (LADDL), which provides diagnostic services for diseases such as West Nile virus, rabies, COVID-19, and other diseases in order to support the public health of our community.
LSU Vet Med is also dedicated to helping our faculty, staff, students, alumni, and other members of the veterinary community by providing wellbeing resources.
