LSART Disaster Response Training at LSU Vet Med

This week the Louisiana State Animal Response Team is holding its annual Animal Responder Boot Camp at LSU Vet Med. Animal responders and veterinary students will receive training in helping animals following disasters, such as hurricanes. This is a vital part of our mission to protect.

Please note that MS and PhD candidates do not need to have a research interest in veterinary medicine and research does not need to benefit animals. LSU Vet Med is a biomedical research institution as well as a veterinary school. Our researchers' investigations cover a wide range of disciplines, including cancer biology, disease processes, cardiovascular disease, infectious and parasitic diseases, neurosciences, toxicology, bacteriology, and more.

The Westminster Kennel Club (WKC) has named Sara K. Lyle, DVM, MS, PhD, DACT, associate professor of theriogenology at the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine, the recipient of its fourth annual Veterinarian of the Year Award (VOTY).

Mike's exam team

Mike VII, LSU's live tiger mascot, undergoes routine dental cleaning and exam

On Saturday, April 5, Mike VII, LSU's live tiger mascot, received a routine dental cleaning and exam by a team from the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine. The team was overseen by Rhett Stout, DVM, PhD (LSU 1994, 2003), DACLAM, professor and director of the Division of Laboratory Medicine and LSU's attending veterinarian. The exam and dental cleaning took place in Mike's night house on the LSU campus in Baton Rouge.
